2007: VAIL “ROCKY MOUNTAIN BLUNDER”
Yes, Al falls asleep at a point when the rest of us are wide awake. And yes, it was brought on by a call home. And yes, he tried to deny it all. But this time, it sadly happened just one hour into our trip. Simply amazing.
It's been a while since we've tasted the golden nectar of freshies at the Coors Brewing Company.
Al and Sean get in line for some tasters of Killian’s Red.
On the drive up to Vail, the boys stop off at Beau Jo’s for some delicious mountain pizzas.
The boys and their many fishing rods make their way west to fish the Colorado River.
The boys arrive at the launching point and get ready for some hardcore fly fishing.
Craig is pretty pumped to get out on the water. But alas, despite a herculean effort of relentless casting, he isn’t going to catch squat on this trip.
Sean and Al are ready to hop in their boat and do their best to reel in a few Brown Trout for dinner.
One of our fishing guides is getting our fly rods ready with some choice flies before we launch.
There's just something cool about having a train from LA roll by when you're fishing in the middle of nowhere.
Chris dominates the day by catching several fish. Here is our guide pulling out the net to bring in one of his prizes.
Clem holding the biggest catch of the day.
Dean makes his way up to Vail in time for a great dinner at Russell’s Steakhouse. Cheers, Dinky Diggler!
Clem digs into his medium rare New York strip steak and regales his fellow Paloozians with tales of his day fishing.
Because the Paloozians are visiting at the start of “mud season”, they’re able to stay at the luxurious Lodge At Vail, which is right in the middle of Vail Village.
Al walks past Blu’s after an early Starbucks run. The Paloozians have a green chili doused breakfast there later that morning.
After breakfast, the Paloozians venture out to one of Vail's many outstanding golf courses for some action. Here’s Dean teeing off.
The Paloozians encounter lots of killer drop-offs and plenty of wildlife (and I'm not just talking about Seanie).
When a stream flows through a golf course in Colorado, it’s actually real!
Lucky for us, the Vail Oktoberfest is taking place while we are in town. It is a pretty small but cool event.
Al and Sean enjoy some beers in their custom steins, while Sean cops a quick feel on poor Albert Einstein.
The boys depart Vail on Saturday morning and head straight to Red Rocks for an all day music festival. Here are Al, Sean and Dean grabbing some brews.
Chris and Sean take a quick breather after scaling 5000 steps to the top of the world's greatest music venue.
The boys are able to check out the first half of the Monolith Festival and a bunch of cool new bands. This is Bob Log III rocking the guitar.
There are stages set up on the main stage, way up top and even under the seats. It was definitely a hard event to leave early.
We end up watching bands on each stage. After we leave, Cake, Kings of Leon and the Flaming Lips are set to play.
After painfully tearing ourselves away from the good tunes at Red Rocks, the Paloozians squeeze their way into Folsom Field to see Colorado take on Florida State.
The Buffs play tough but can’t hold off the talented Seminoles. The Paloozians prove to be just one week early, when CU knocks off #4 Oklahoma.
Dean grabs some pre-game rays at Rio in Denver.
There’s no better way to start a morning than with a couple of Rio’s highly potent strawberry margs.
Sean and Dean spending some quality pre-game time with the Broncos beloved mascot, Thunder.
The Paloozians are treated to a solid home opener. After a crazy lightening storm stops the game, the Broncos secure an overtime win over the pathetic Raiders. That’s a wrap!
